Lisa Steiner is originally from Chicago, Illinois and is the daughter of a figurative painter. In addition to studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, Steiner received a BA from American University and an MFA from University of Oregon. As a visual artist, Lisa finds inspiration from observing the world around her. Favorite subjects of her imagery include the study of human individuality through portraiture and the geometric layering of the urban landscape. Lisa’s work aims to examine volume, form, and scale within the confines of two-dimensional painting. Her work has been exhibited internationally, in New York, Chicago, Connecticut, Oregon, Wyoming and Villa de Leyva and Bogota, Colombia. She has been awarded residencies at the Edna St. Vincent Millay Colony, the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Ireland and El Hayuelo, Colombia. Lisa has travelled extensively throughout Central and South America and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
